Doing our Part to Help Fight Fire

As part of our commitment to our community, Midas Gold assisted the U.S. Forest Service and other agencies battling wildfires near the Stibnite Gold Project site.  We provided space for fire crews and helicopters to stage so they had closer access to where the fire was burning.

Interestingly enough, one of the minerals found at the site is antimony, a mineral used in fire protection.

“Antimony Trioxide” is a compound formed through weathering processes and is a common additive in commercial products. Antimony is often a flame inhibitor used in fire protective clothing and in flame retardants to squelch fires. It is also used to enhance the fire resistance of polyester and cotton-polyester fabric blends and used in bedding, professional racing and military clothing.

While someday we hope to be able to mine for antimony at Stibnite to help with fire suppression efforts, we were happy we could still do our part to help firefighters by giving them access to our space. We appreciate all these brave men and women do to keep our community safe.
