TOUR STIBNITE DURING SUMMER OF 2017

Forty miles east of McCall is one of the most storied mining sites in all of Idaho. The historic Stibnite Mining District was once home to hundreds of miners and played a critical role in World War II. Today, we have a plan to Restore the Site. This summer, we would appreciate the opportunity to show you the site on one of our tours and tell you more about our plans for the future.

Currently, we have several tours on the calendar for 2017:

  • Tuesday, July 11
  • Wednesday, July 26
  • Wednesday, August 2
  • Thursday, August 3
  • Friday, August 4
  • Saturday, August 5
  • Saturday, August 26
  • Thursday, August 31
  • Wednesday, September 6

Reserve your spot today

The tours are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis at no cost to you, with lunch provided on the full day tours. To reserve your spot on one of the 2017 tours, please call (208) 901-3055 or email [email protected]. The tours are a full-day event. We typically leave from our Donnelly office at 8 a.m. and return by 5:00 p.m. This year, during the Yellow Pine Music and Harmonica Festival (August 2-5), we will also have a special set of tours leaving from Yellow Pine at 10:00 a.m. and returning to Yellow Pine by noon and tours departing at 2:00 pm and returning by 4 p.m.

Guests on the tour will see the former Stibnite town site, the Yellow Pine Pit, the former Meadow Creek Mine and mill site, and see the legacy that past mining has left behind.  We will discuss our Plan of Restoration and Operations, which sets out how we propose to repair many of the lasting effects from mining decades ago.

The Stibnite-Yellow Pine Mining District hasn’t been mined since the late 1990s and most of the mining occurred long before environmental rules and regulations were put in place. Midas Gold started exploring the site about eight years ago and have been reclaiming both our own impacts and those left by others ever since. We believe we can restore the site through modern mining and repair the environmental legacies left behind while developing a modern, profitable mining operation producing gold & antimony.

We hope you will join us in Stibnite this summer to learn more.
