Our Commitment Remains

Our Commitment Remains

Published December 4, 2020

Midas Gold was founded with the belief that the mining and the environment could work  hand in hand. We intentionally developed the Stibnite Gold Project to clean up a brownfields site abandoned after a century of mining and benefit the communities surrounding our project in the process.

Today, we are as committed as ever to our founding beliefs.

Recently, there have been some changes with the Midas Gold Corp. board of directors and with leadership positions within the company. If you want to learn more, you can read about it here. We are writing because we want you to know these changes do not impact Midas Gold Idaho.

Our commitment to restoring the Stibnite Gold Project remains strong. We want to help our nation secure its only domestically mined supply of antimony. We want to see Blowout Creek restored, so it is no longer the largest sedimentation source in the watershed. We want to see salmon reconnected to their native spawning grounds for the first time in more than 80 years. We want to improve water quality and fish habitat in the historical Stibnite Mining District. We want to provide more than 500 direct, family-wage jobs to Idahoans.

Our team is focused on achieving all of these goals and continues to move the Stibnite Gold Project through the permitting process.

The changes with Midas Gold Corp. does not change the efforts of Midas Gold Idaho or impact any of the commitments we have made, including the Community Agreement we signed with eight of the communities closest to our project.

We remain focused on our original goals and are working hard every day to get us closer to finally being able to restore the site.
