McCall Winter Carnival

McCall Winter Carnival

Published on February 5, 2015

You might be surprised by what you find this year between all the snow sculptures of the 50th annual Winter Carnival. Visitors will have the opportunity to pan for gold just like miners have been doing in the area for hundreds of years, thanks to Midas Gold.

Children of all ages can pan for gold as well as Idaho garnets, pyrite, more commonly known as fools gold, and even Montana sapphires. Whatever visitors find while they are panning they can take home. While visitors are looking for their piece of the treasure, Midas Gold will teach them what happens to the minerals once they are mined. The gold panning station will be located at the Hotel McCall courtyard, right behind Century 21. Winter Carnival visitors can pan for gold Fridays from noon to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
