JOIN US AT THE STIBNITE GOLD PROJECT SITE

Summertime is for adventures and in Idaho we have plenty of options. This is the season to take the family camping, float the river, ascend some of our state’s tallest peaks and go horseback riding in the backcountry. We hope you’ll add one more thing to the list – tour the historic Stibnite Gold Project site.

For the past several summers, we have invited Idahoans to come out and see the site. We are currently working with the U.S. Forest Service to obtain the numerous permits required to redevelop and restore the site. The Stibnite Gold Project site was mined off and on for more than a century. During World War II, it was critical to the war effort. Men were even allowed to come to Stibnite to complete their war service to help mine for tungsten and antimony. Mining activity stopped at the site completely in 1997.

This summer is your chance to see the site for yourself and learn more about its rich history. We have several tour dates available:

  • July 11, 2018
  • July 17, 2018
  • August 14, 2018
  • August 18, 2018
  • August 21, 2018
  • August 31, 2018
  • September 21, 2018
  • September 26, 2018
  • September 28, 2018

We also have a few special tours during Yellow Pine’s Harmonica Festival. Please check our calendar of events if you are interested in learning more about these tours.

Guests on our tours will see the remains of the former Stibnite town site, the Yellow Pine Pit and the former Meadow Creek Mine and mill site and see the legacy past mining operations have left behind. At the height of activity in the 1940s, more than 750 people lived and worked in Stibnite year-round. This vibrant town even had its own school, hospital and recreation center.

Tours are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. To reserve your spot on one of the tours call (208) 901-3055 or email couture@MidasGoldInc.com. Typically, we leave our office in Donnelly at 8 a.m. and return to the office by 5 p.m. We will take care of all of the driving, so participants can sit back and relax on the tour. We also provide snacks, drinks and lunches.

Midas Gold started exploring the site about nine years ago. We believe we can restore the site through modern mining and fix the environmental legacies left behind while producing gold, silver and antimony at the site.

We hope you will join us on one of our tours. We would love to show you the site!
