Gold Glove Park Dedication

Gold Glove Park Dedication

After nearly a year of construction, more than a hundred community members gathered on Saturday to dedicate McCall’s improved ball fields, now officially known as Gold Glove Park.

Before work on the park started, players had to worry about muddy fields at the beginning of the season and there was not a concession stand or restrooms.  The City had been working on saving money to improve the park and with Midas’ donation the City was able to make the improvements much faster than they originally planned.

Midas Gold donated $50,000 to help transform Gold Glove Park. The contribution covered almost half the costs to resurface the two ball fields, install a drainage system to keep the fields from getting too muddy early in the season and build restrooms and a concession stand.

“So many of us at Midas Gold have fond childhood memories of playing baseball in the summer,” said Anne Labelle, vice president of Midas Gold. “We are so thankful to be part of this community. And we want to make sure everyone in McCall gets the chance to make their own memories playing ball.”

The City of McCall gave Midas Gold naming rights to the park. However, the company felt it was only fitting to have the community name the park. Midas Gold asked the community to submit name ideas and worked closely with the City, ultimately settling on Gold Glove Park.
